Waimea Falls is a tourist attraction, so I never visited it until last summer. It is famous for its large natural waterfall at the end of the valley trail. I brought a friend with me, we walked the trail through some beautiful shrubbery, and enjoyed the replica of ancient Hawaiian dwellings that were set up along the way. It was a pleasant hike to the falls.

The falls however were disappointing. Left untouched in nature, the falls would have been very impressive! They are the biggest falls I've visited on the island; however, it was too touristy for my enjoyment. You are required to wear a life jacket, and the current is too strong to get close to the falls while in the life jacket. It was also very brown from the dirt and crowded. I will stick to my beautiful private falls on the east side!
